Product Description
On June 4, 1944, a German submarine known as U-505 was captured off the coast of West Africa by US Navy Task Group 22.3 under the command of Chicago native Daniel Gallery. This capture became one of the best-kept secrets of WWII. In 1954, the U-505 was brought to the Museum of Science and Industry for permanent display. In 2004, the U-505 made its "final voyager" from outside the Museum's Henry Crown Space Center entrance to an all-new 35,000 square' underground exhibit space on the northeast end of the Museum. This "Extend the Experience" dvd tells the amazing story of the U-505 as well as giving the viewer a behind-the-scenes look at this remarkable exhibit. The U-505 Submarine exhibit was made possible by the generous support of the McCormick Tribune Fdn and thousands of other contributors.
